I’ve been photographing animals for many years and have lived with them for most of my life. When I photograph animals, I approach them the same way I approach human portraits — with attention to their authentic energy, their individuality, and the connection I feel in the moment.
Many of the animals in this gallery are from the Catskill Animal Sanctuary in Saugerties, NY, which I’ve been visiting with my son since he was very young. My first visit there in 2008 had a profound impact on me and continues to shape the way I see and photograph animals. That experience informs the sensitivity and respect I bring to every animal portrait.
