Choosing Your Headshot Photographer

There are a lot of headshot photographers in NYC, so it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. When you’re reviewing portfolios, look for qualities that go beyond lighting and hair/makeup:

• Do the actors look natural, or overly posed?

• Can you get a sense of their individual energy?

• Do the expressions feel real and grounded — or forced?

• Is the quality consistent from person to person?

Inconsistency or artificial expressions are red flags.
